Why Honda is Re-Focusing on Electric Cars

The future of Honda, according to CEO Takahiro Hachigo, is in green alternatives. Right now, you can find a large selection of efficient new Honda vehicles in Hololulu, but they are by-and-large powered by internal combustion engines.

Soon, that is going to change.

By 2018, Honda plans to have a plug-in hybrid available in U.S. markets, and that's just the beginning. By 2030, Hachigo says, about two thirds of Honda vehicles will be hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, or hydrogen.

Plug-in hybrids are expected to be at the forefront of this shift toward electrified models.
